Joanna and Mary’s match grew naturally over time through simple, thoughtful moments. Early on, Joanna brought easygoing activities like card games and memory games so they could get to know each other while keeping Mary’s comfort and health in mind. They also spent time outside talking when the weather was nice, which quickly became something Mary enjoyed.
One of their favorite things to do together is attend art class. Painting and coloring gave them a chance to relax, chat, and share stories. Mary often painted flowers that reminded her of her life in Ohio and her husband, and the class became such a routine that they eventually picked Fridays at 1 PM as their regular time to meet.
Outside of art, they played games like Yahtzee, Uno, and Jenga, joined community activities, and caught up on each other’s weeks. Over time, Mary opened up more about her health, family, and how she’s been feeling day to day. Joanna has been a steady presence through it all, whether they’re celebrating good days, talking through harder ones, or just enjoying each other’s company.
Their match is a great example of how connection doesn’t have to be complicated—just consistent, kind, and built on showing up for one another.
