Meet Elton and Edith from our University of Florida chapter!

Elton and Edith’s match has quickly blossomed into a warm and meaningful connection, rooted in their shared value of family. From their very first meeting, they bonded over stories of loved ones, family traditions, and even their mutual sweet tooth. Edith, who is very family-oriented, enjoyed reminiscing about her past and found comfort in conversations that reinforced her close ties to her children and granddaughter.

Over the weeks, their conversations continued to center on family and tradition. Even when Edith felt confined or a bit low in energy, Elton’s presence encouraged her to open up. He often stayed longer to make sure she could eat breakfast or take her medicine, showing patience and kindness that Edith herself described as “old-fashioned.” With time, she began engaging more—asking Elton questions, sharing jokes, and discussing future plans, like the possibility of moving in with her granddaughter.

Moments of hope have started to shine through as well: Edith has become more energetic, shared her Jewish traditions during Passover, and even sat with other residents during breakfast—signs that she might be forming new friendships in her community.
