
Meet Atalaya Sergi
Philanthropic, Public, & Nonprofit Leader

Atalaya Sergi led the Office of AmeriCorps Seniors, the federal grantmaking office within the AmeriCorps agency dedicated to promoting and engaging individuals aged 55 and older in outcomes-oriented service. She brings extensive experience in national service, community engagement, aging, intergenerational programs, and education. Throughout her career in both the public and nonprofit sectors, she has worked to unite private and public organizations to ensure that people of all ages, particularly those in underserved communities, have the opportunity to thrive.
Prior to her appointment in the Biden-Harris administration, Sergi served as Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Programming at Jumpstart for Young Children, Inc., where she managed federal, corporate, and private funding and partnerships. In this role, she also built teams and developed strategies for key initiatives.
Sergi has served on numerous local and federal advisory committees, councils, and coalitions. She has been recognized as a PBS Next Avenue Influencer in Aging, an Encore Network Champion, a Co-Generate Encore Public Voices Fellow, and a participant in the American Society on Aging Innovation & Social Impact Accelerator.
Atalaya earned a master’s degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Virginia.
