Mary Grannan, one of Perfect Pair’s first matched pairs and a member of the Advisory Team, left a lasting mark on Perfect Pair and all the lives she touched. With grace, compassion, introspection, and an unwavering commitment to positive change, Mary, alongside her matched pair Madison from the University of Michigan, embodied the heart and soul of Perfect Pair. 

Mary’s connection with her pair exemplified the power of intergenerational relationships, mentorship, learning from one another, and creating true friendship. Mary’s impact extended beyond being a matched pair; she served on the Advisory Team for 1 and a half years, offering invaluable insight and consistent feedback that fueled the growth and direction of our programs. In Mary’s own words, she expressed, “[Perfect Pair] has been a special joy in my life and deeply meaningful to so many. Brilliant, fun, and compassionate.” Her reflections encapsulated what we hope to create with Perfect Pair—profound connections, joy, and compassion between people across generations. As we honor Mary's memory, we seek to acknowledge her pivotal role as an inspiration to our community. 

Annual Recognition:

The Mary Grannan Award stands as a tribute to Mary’s legacy. It recognizes a pair with a connection that embodies the introspection, knowledge, kindness, and deep and meaningful connection that Mary brought to her pair and the entire organization. This award celebrates the extraordinary bond formed between individuals who, like Mary, demonstrate exceptional care, wisdom, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others. 

The pair who receive the Mary Grannan Award will be recognized at the annual End-of-Year Awards ceremony. As we honor Mary's memory, we will celebrate the recipients of the Mary Grannan Award, knowing that their connection reflects the spirit of Mary, who dedicated her life to making the world a better place.
